i saw sociology when...

I was reading a book called the Hunger Games and its about the future and USA turns into this country called Panem and there are thirteen different districts. Anyways the society in the book is so much different than modern society and if any one from today actually lived in this society they would be disgusted by more than half the things they do in this book. Some examples is this thing called the Hunger Games, where each district gives up one male and one female "tribute" to fight in the arena to the death with other tributes from the other districts. Tributes range from ages 12-17. Only one winner can come out of the Hunger Games, and the fact that its required to watch all the children kill eachother is very messed up. Almost the whole book i was thinking of sociology and how the President looks at life through the conflict perspective.

  1. I loved all 3 of the Hunger Games books. They have a lot of sociology packed into them. Their society can definately be viewed through the conflict perspective as the "have nots" of Panem were definately being punished by the "haves." Can you imagine if a place like that, with Hunger Games taking place, really existed?
